About:

On a lonely planet a traveler lands, seeking a life of peace and plenty. Previous owners of the planet Star'N'Save have left the facilities in disrepair. The grounds have overgrown with carnivorous alien plant life. Tame the land, restore the farm and find out why Star'N'Save left long ago. 

 

Farming

Spend the day clearing the farm of weeds to get seeds. Plant the seeds and water the plots to grow predatory vegetation. Analyze the produce at R.O.L.O. the friendly computer. Choose your encounters each night and play at the pace you choose. 

 

Boomer Shooter

A fast paced action-packed farming shooter. Reclaim the farm from the seething masses of hostile vegetation. Use modified farming tools to defeat a variety of enemies. Battle in two distinct arenas, each with their own play style

  • Game Engine: Developed using Unreal Engine 5.4

  • Platform: Available on Desktop & Playstation 5

  • Development Duration: 15 Weeks

  • Team Size: Developed in a 6-person team

Design & Development:

The Ripening represents the first team project in Unreal Engine 5.4. as a student.

Production too 14 weeks between a team of 6. My responsibilities included level design, narrative and progression design and sound design

What I Learnt:

  • Pre-production is vital to as little iteration as possible. The project went through many iterations which meant that the final version of the product had less production time than was warranted to complete the vision.

  •  The delegation of tasks, and playing to strengths helped early, but being able to step outside your comfort zone and take on additional tasks will lead to success and growth.

  • Always be willing to adapt. Not everything always goes to plan, and the product is more important than the individual want.
